Q. Like the look of this product but wonder how it really performs when gas patio heaters are 12kw?
A. Gas heaters heat the air around them with 12-14Kw equivalent energy consumption (actually gas heating of the air is measured in BTUs). These gas heaters were given an efficiency factor by some environmental bodies, who have spent years campaigning against them, of 70% energy consumption to heat output, however when used outdoors this reduces to 30% (30% x 12kw = 3.6Kw) actually getting to the customers assuming they have encircled the unit!
In fact, if it is windy, it is pretty much a waste of time as (above head height) all the hot air escapes into the atmosphere which in turn increases its carbon footprint! They also have exhaust fumes which make people feel sick and pollute the atmosphere, so clearly you can only use them outdoors.
One gas heater will consume X number of Kg of Butane or Propane gas in Y number of hours giving us a running cost (including purchasing and delivery) for the gas heater of around £4.50 / hour.
Chillchaser 3Kw Heaters have a running cost in most areas of the UK at £0.33p / hour with 98% of the electricity used (electric is now considered a clean energy) converted into far infrared with a range of up to 4m. It also heats who it is aimed at and no energy is wasted when the economy setting is enabled as it switches off when no-one is present.
In the photo of the Aqua club roof top terrace, London you can see only one of these inefficient gas heaters – Aqua have now purchased several of our Zeus heaters because the gas ones were totally ineffective at keeping customers warm.
